Today we checked out Bronx Pizza in Cork City, and we may have found the new pizza to beat. This was one of our first stops on our quest to find the best pizza in Cork, and honestly, we think this might be the overall winner.
Cork Xtra Video Review
The Setup
We walked into Bronx Pizza and it's an open-plan casual diner, similar to Fast Al's in layout but a good bit bigger. The vibe is bright, friendly and unmistakably American. They describe themselves as authentic American pizza, and it shows.
The Offers
The wall is plastered with offers that make this absolute value, especially if you're going in for a proper feed:
- Basic Slice: €5-€6
- Slice, Dip and Drink: €8.50
- 2 Slices and Drink: €12.50
- 2 Slices, Dip, Drink, Cookie: €15
- Full Pie: Upwards of €35 (feeds at least 3 people)
For value-per-slice it's only a bit more expensive than Fast Al's, but the slices are a good bit bigger, so per gram of pizza it's competitive.
The Food
We had to go for the full works and it absolutely did not disappoint. I went with the Cheese Slice and the Marinara, Pesto, Burrata.
The interesting bit. The cheese pie had a thicker crust while the Marinara was thin and crispy with a lot more integrity. Both styles, side by side, doing different things really well.
Both were absolutely delicious. They say it's authentic American pizza and it didn't disappoint. There was plenty of sauce, the cheese was delicious and heaped on. Not too much, but nobody could say there was too little either. The Marinara sauce and burrata was ridiculously tasty, satisfying to the last bite.
This is the type of pizza you keep eating even when you're full because it's that good.
The Cookie
After the pizza came the small matter of the cookie, which weighed about a kilo. Soft and gooey on the inside, very nice tasting. The €15 deal with two slices, drink, dip and that cookie is genuinely outstanding value.
The Staff
The workers were friendly and we even got a smile for the camera, which helps push the staff rating up. Service was sharp and welcoming.
Minor Gripes
Honest review means flagging the downsides:
- Could do with more seating, especially at peak times
- The cheese pizza crust was slightly on the chunky side (the Marinara nailed it better)
- It's a little more expensive per slice than Fast Al's, though the slice sizes are notably bigger
The Verdict
This is a serious contender for best pizza in Cork. The combination of authentic American style, generous portions, friendly service and properly satisfying flavour makes Bronx a must-visit for any pizza fan in the city. It gets a whopper score that's going to be very hard to beat in our best pizza in Cork rankings.
