1. Jacobs On The Mall, South Mall
One of Cork's top restaurants. Former Turkish Baths on the South Mall, beautifully laid out with plenty of space between tables. The 8oz Fillet Steak was the star of the show. Edges Market Lane on atmosphere, presentation and exclusivity.

2. Market Lane, Cork City
One of the best upmarket restaurants in Cork City. Locally sourced beef, dairy and cider; a busy two-storey room with a cocktail bar; standout sirloin steak and chicken liver pate. Pricing is on the higher side but the quality is undeniable.

3. Golden Elephant Thai, Douglas Village
One of the best Thai restaurants in Cork. Authentic Thai food verified by someone who has lived in Thailand - chicken and beef satay and beef curry all top quality. Warm, attentive service in a small but lively Douglas dining room. The space gets tight when it is busy, but the experience holds up.

4. Boojum, Cork City
Irish-owned Mexican fast food chain serving genuinely good burritos and bowls in the heart of Cork City. The Irish beef is the standout, the toppings are fresh, and the table salsas let you customise to taste. €15 for a burrito and a drink is steep without a student card, but for a quality fast meal in the city centre it is hard to beat.

One of the strongest Mexican restaurants in Cork City. Bold authentic flavours, friendly Mexican staff, fair prices and standout spicy margaritas. Quesadillas at €7.50 and mains around €18.50 for the kind of Mexican cooking that actually tastes like Mexico.
