Wans Thai Massage, Ballinlough

Wans Thai Massage is located in Ballinlough, next to the Silver Key. They offer traditional Thai massage with prices starting at around sixty euro for one hour.

Having lived in Thailand for two years and experienced Thai massage at the source, this one falls short of what you would get in Thailand. That said, it is one of the few Thai massage options in the Cork area, so there is not much competition.

Inside the Facility

The Experience

The owner herself is a strong masseuse and you will feel the pressure. The massage was decent and she clearly knows what she is doing. The staff appear to be from the Isaan region in the northeast of Thailand, which is common for Thai massage therapists abroad.

However, some regular customers have noted that you tend to get the best attention on your first visit, and after that the service can drop off. The attitude was not the warmest either.

The Facility

The place is small with three rooms. If all rooms are full, they will put two clients in one room with a curtain dividing the space. Some people find this uncomfortable and it has been a common complaint. For sixty euro an hour, you would expect a private room as standard.

The Verdict

It is not a bad massage, but coming from someone who has had hundreds of Thai massages in Thailand, this is average by comparison. The facility is basic, the atmosphere is lacking, and the value is not great for what you get. If you have never had a Thai massage before, you might be happy with it. If you know what a proper Thai massage feels like, you will notice the gap.
