Ross's Bakery, Ballinlough

Tuesday morning we were at Ross's Bakery, a popular and cosy deli, bakery and café in the heart of Ballinlough.

After visiting Silver Key next door, plenty of our viewers urged us to try Ross's breakfast, and they were certainly right.

We walked in early and there were two gardaí sitting having their breakfast, a sight that's fairly common in Ross's. They obviously know where to get the quality.

I went with sausage and bacon on a roll with butter and ketchup, and this moved straight into our top breakfasts. The roll was soft and super fresh, the bacon was chunky and great quality, and the sausages were the best we have tasted, really good quality.

I used to eat Ross's growing up and this is just as good as I remember.

Our review has already gotten around 100k views, so I hope they didn't get too busy, and we already want to go back for a second time.

The taste and quality of the food was second to none, and it moves to number two on our list of best breakfasts. The Dunnes breakfast was ridiculously cheap, but Ross's is not far behind at €10 for the Full Irish, although that's not including coffee.

The staff were also really good in Ross's, friendly, welcoming, and service comes with a smile. This is a smaller premises with seating for maybe 20 people, so keep that in mind if you're coming at a busy time.

Our comments section was full of suggestions to try their doughnuts, éclairs and more, so you know the cakes are proper tasty as well.

We were thoroughly satisfied with our breakfast and looking forward to our next visit.

Top-quality ingredients on a perfectly fresh roll, in a welcoming local-institution setting. €10 for the Full Irish is good value and the staff are a real plus. Small premises — go early at busy times. 8.4/10 and a clear new #2 on our Best Breakfast in Cork list.
