Garryduff Pitch and Putt, Cork

Arrived at Garryduff Pitch and Putt on a beautiful summer's day in the middle of May. This one had a lot to live up to after our day out at Rocklodge went so well, but Garryduff held its own and then some.

A Cork Staple

Garryduff has been here for many years, and it was exactly as we remembered in terms of layout and what it delivers. There's a reassuring familiarity to the place. It knows what it is and it does it well. Thankfully there were a few long holes to sink our teeth into as well, which kept things interesting throughout the round.

The Course

The surface area is much larger than Rocklodge, and the fairways were in really good condition. The greens are a little bigger here, with longer grass, so they weren't as fast. Not quite the proper, slick greens we saw at Rocklodge, but still very playable and enjoyable.

Where Garryduff really comes alive is the variety. There were a few tricky holes over the water that make you think, and a couple of steep uphill shots that must have been 80 to 90 yards. Proper tests that reward a good strike. It's a course with genuine character and enough challenge to keep you coming back.

Atmosphere and Value

The atmosphere was really good. The staff were sound and offered some free tees, a scorecard and a pencil to get us going. Small touches that make a difference. At €8 per round, this is really good value for the quality of the course you're getting. We shared the course with two other groups, so it's clearly a spot the locals know and use.

The Verdict

Overall, Garryduff is a really good pitch and putt course. Larger and more varied than some, with good fairways, characterful holes over water and uphill, a friendly welcome and unbeatable value at €8. It's nearly up there with Rocklodge for me, and that's high praise. If you're in Cork and after a round, Garryduff is well worth your time.
